Amsterdam Airport Schiphol – Airport Operations Center (APOC)
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is one of Europe's busiest and most complex airports. To manage the growing passenger flows and increasing number of flights efficiently, Schiphol established the Airport Operations Center (APOC), a central hub designed to improve coordination and ensure smooth, predictable operations across the airport.
In collaboration with Bosch Energy and Building Solutions, INTER designed and realized the APOC's state-of-the-art control room. The new facility features ergonomically advanced TITAN operator desks combined with Barco OpSpace technology, enabling operators from various disciplines to collaborate seamlessly in a single, integrated environment.
A new way of working
The APOC brings together key airport disciplines such as Air Traffic Control, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, Baggage Handling and Parking Management within one centralized space. Each team operates from its own dedicated workstation, yet shares the same real-time data and situational awareness. This allows operators to identify potential issues early, take proactive measures and maintain optimal passenger and flight flow throughout the day.
Smart technology for 24/7 operations
With Barco OpSpace, operators can control multiple applications and data sources using just one keyboard and mouse, accessing and sharing information instantly with colleagues. Through three large videowalls, essential insights are displayed across teams, ensuring everyone has the right information at the right time. The result is a hypermodern 24/7 workspace that improves efficiency, collaboration and safety across airport operations.
Performance built on partnership
The close collaboration between Bosch, Schiphol and INTER made this project a success. With Bosch as a long-term vested partner of Schiphol, their early involvement and continuous on-site expertise played a vital role in optimizing the airport's processes. Together, the partners have realized an innovative control room that reflects Schiphol's vision for smarter, more connected airport operations.
