Evos Amsterdam – Control Room Renewal
Evos Amsterdam is a terminal dedicated to the storage and transshipment of liquid energy products. The site hosts around 90 tanks with a total capacity of over 1.7 million cubic meters, forming part of the critical infrastructure that powers our society. Products such as gasoline, kerosene, methanol, ethanol, and biofuels are stored here, essential to the shipping and aviation industries worldwide.
Processes in the Control Room
Within the control room, operators continuously monitor every process taking place across the terminal. They oversee the entire loading and unloading operations of vessels, ensuring each transfer is executed safely and efficiently. In addition, jetties, pump stations, and other key assets are monitored in real time through an extensive camera network. Operators also keep a close eye on tank levels and water treatment processes, ensuring operational reliability and environmental compliance at all times.
Renewal of Workstations and Videowall
"The main reason for renewing our control room was the ongoing expansion of our existing control systems, which had led to multiple standalone setups, keyboards, and screens," explains Chas Hecker, Assistant Manager Operations at Evos Amsterdam. "This increased the risk of missing critical information. Moreover, the fixed layout of the old workstations did not allow operators to adjust their setup ergonomically."
The new control room now features four fully integrated operator workstations, each equipped with Barco OpSpace. This combination ensures both technological integration and ergonomic comfort. Later, the control room was further enhanced with a new videowall, improving overall situational awareness and collaboration among operators.
Optimizing Workflows and Efficiency
At the new workstations, operators can now customize their screen layouts to match their workflow, enhancing both ergonomics and operational safety. "The new setup allows us to copy, paste, and drag information across systems, eliminating manual steps such as printing, scanning, and re-uploading," says Chas. "All relevant data is now visible at a glance. This integration has simplified our processes, increased efficiency, and improved the overall performance of our control room."
Live Demo at the INTER Experience Center
"Our collaboration with INTER during the installation of the new systems was extremely positive," Chas continues. "Being able to test the full setup, including both the technology and the furniture, at INTER's Experience Center beforehand was highly valuable. The close cooperation during installation ensured a smooth transition and a result that perfectly matched our operational requirements."
